T-Ball Time!

We've been in a rut when it comes to sports for Ryder. Everything started at 3 down in Florida so he did t-ball and then basketball. Then we moved up here and couldn't find any sports. We had him in soccer in the fall because it was the only thing we could find, and it was pretty lame. Derrik was determined to find Ryder a t-ball team to play on this spring. Unfortunately they don't start until you are five. After working some magic with his old high school baseball coach though we managed to get Ryder on a team. They had already started practices, and tonight was our first night. Ryder was full of questions on the way there, and when we pulled in he jumped out of his car seat, gave Derrik and I a kiss, and told us "i'm kind of nervous". We assured him that it was totally normal to feel nervous, that we would be right there cheering him on the whole time, and that he'd do amazing. Luckily we arrived early so he could warm up to the field a little bit first....

SO annoyed little brother is there....

"Landon throw the ball"
No clue what he's doing...
"Landon put your hand about your head and throw the ball"
(clearly this one has MY athletic ability lol)
He quit... time to go find a snack....

Meanwhile... this one is hitting home runs!

Then the team arrived... Ryder came over for a drink, and I heard him whisper to himself "Ok don't be nervous now". I grabbed his hand and told him I loved him and off he went.
Derrik and Ryder introduced themselves to Coach Chris, Ryder shook his hand, and that was that... He was on Team Gold. He went over with the coach to be introduced to his new teammates and coaches and then they got down to business

and Landon does what he does best... snacked....
and acted sneaky....
Then played more catch to try to stay distracted...
Meanwhile our little all star was practicing his catching in the outfield...
Please excuse my awful sports photography...
But he had a pretty good batting practice :)

A little help from coach

And that's a wrap... He didn't miss a beat! He loved it :) Unfortunately I didn't know we'd be starting a sport when I scheduled our upcoming trip to Florida. We will miss a practice and the first game, but then will be ready for the season!! This is exactly what Ryder needs right now. He loves to be outside, and I hate when I see him playing video games and watching tv non-stop. With school coming to an end soon it'll be a nice thing to have :)
